To promote optimal egg production, chickens should be fed a high-quality layer feed with the proper balance of protein (around 15-18%) and calcium to support egg shell formation. Super poultry mix and layer blend are the best for chickens.
Some foods are toxic to chickens and should be avoided entirely, including avocado, chocolate, onions, garlic, raw beans, moldy or spoiled food, and high-sugar foods. Also, avoid feeding chickens anything with added salt or sugar.
